What is Responsive Web Design

Technology puts a smart phone in the hands of 90 percent of our population. No longer do we have to wait until we get to our home or office computer to Google a wanted item or service. We do it right from our smart phone. Eighty percent of all searches are done on a mobile device with screens varying in size. Technology has also brought us Responsive web design. Viewed on a desktop or laptop computer a websites seen in their total width. In the past when you viewed a website on a cell phone you would need to "pinch" and "spread" the screen with your thumb and index finger in order to see what was presented on the screen. Responsive Web Design condenses the information on the site and allows the smart phone user to simply scroll down or up to view the information. Unfortunately, many website designers still use old technology and no one likes to pinch and spread to find the information they are seeking. Also, many older sites have not updated to the latest website coding and mobile device visitors to their site still have dificulity viewing that sites information. It is likely they lose viewers as a result of their old technology. Using the example to the right you can see how easy it is to just scroll down and view all the information easily.
